thanks, interesting - so  Edamame is another varietal name like Butterbean or Envy?

Hello,
Edamame are young (immature) soy beans picked for cooking (boiling in salted water usually) in their pods. The pods themselves are not eaten, just the beans. They are well known in China & Japan and varieties of soy bean, such as Butterbean and Envy, have been selected specifically for this purpose.
That's about all I know. Perhaps Annie could add more.

I've been searching for edamame seeds for a while, organic or otherwise. I've had no luck at all so will just plant ordinary soy beans to see how they go as edamame.
