I have grown a range of grammas sourced from different origins. There are a few different shapes such as PawPaw (pear shaped) and the most common, being Trombone (piccy attached). I have seed for 3 different sources of Gramma, one, the Trombone in the piccy, being the best I've grown to date. They have become a cultural icon in Northern Australia, esp. Nth'n NSW ~ Qld, for the use in gramma pie (a dessert). Traditionally they've been used for pie fillings because fruit such as apples & stone fruit weren't available in colonial times.Gramma's are C. moschata, and as such easily cross with Jap 'Pumpkins' & Butternuts. Gramma's are not really a 'Pumpkin' and are not used as a vegetable but as a fruit substitute.Where shall I send the seed?ExSeedingly,Mazza VerdanteSSN 00438----- Original Message -----From: Ray SouthSent: Friday, September 14, 2007 6:15 PMSubject: [Localseed-discuss] Gramma pumpkin seedI have someone searching for seed of what they call Gramma Pumpkin. I know the SSN uses the term gramma to denote the species Cucurbita moschata but perhaps there is a specific variety with this name. If anyone can help I'd be most grateful.
